Getting in ahead of the lunar New Year in February, Vacheron Constantin is the first of the big names in watchmaking to reveal its Year of the Tiger watch.
The latest addition to its “Métiers d’Art The legend of the Chinese zodiac” collection, The Year of the Tiger watch uses Vacheron Constantin’s automatic Caliber 2460 G4 to display jumping hour, minute, day and date using four apertures in the dial.
Two versions of the design, limited to 12 pieces each, are being produced; one in platinum with a blue dial and one in 18ct 5N pink gold with a bronze-toned dial.
The solid 18ct gold dials are hand-engraved and decorated with Grand Feu enamel in a paper-cutting style, before the hand-engraved tiger in either 18ct pink gold or platinum is fixed in place.
The Tiger symbolizes “invicible power, authority and strength, considered as the king of fur animals in Chinese culture” that “exorcises evil spirit and brings good luck.”
