The Star Legacy collection by Montblanc comprise a significant set of watches with well-constructed movements, and just the right mix of contemporary aesthetics. These factors, and more, make the Star Legacy collection perfect for those on the lookout for their first ‘Proper’ watch.
The Spirit of Formal Elegance, which is embodied by the Star Legacy product line, is inspired by Minerva pocket watches from the 19th century and the beginning of 20th century. The timepieces nowadays include round polished pebble-shaped cases, like those found on antique pocket watches; onion-shaped crowns with the recognisable Montblanc emblem; refined dials with the iconic exploding star guilloché pattern; and Sfumato straps coming from the Pelletteria in Florence, Italy.
For 2020, Montblanc is introducing two 43mm stainless steel mens timepieces to the Star Legacy product line – The Star Legacy Automatic Date and The Montblanc Star Legacy Chronograph Day&Date. These timepieces offer very useful indications and provide a perfect mix of classical watchmaking along with a stylish, yet casual look.
The Montblanc Star Legacy Automatic Date comes in a 43mm stainless steel case with a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a sapphire crystal case back. There are two equally delightful dial variations on offer – ivory with a silvery-white flange, featuring the Montblanc exploding star guilloché pattern and 18K rose gold-coated Roman numerals, indexes and hands… and an anthracite dial with black rhodium coated Roman numerals, indexes and hands with the exploding star guilloché pattern. Both are enhanced with luminescent material SuperLuminova for better readability at night. A window at three o’clock, displays the current date.
Powered by an MB 24.17 calibre, the new Montblanc Star Legacy Automatic Date 43mm delivers a power reserve of 38 hours and 50m water resistance. A brown / grey Sfumato strap or stainless steel 3 links bracelet that has been partly polished and partly satin-finished pairs seamlessly with the watch, giving it that effortlessly sophisticated appeal.
The new Montblanc Star Legacy Chronograph Day&Date is housed in a 43mm stainless steel case with a domed sapphire crystal on the front and a sapphire crystal on the back, allowing the wearer the possibility to admire the MB25.07 automatic chronograph movement beneath.
Once again, the watch is offered in two dial colours – ivory with a silvery-white flange and counters that features 18K rose gold-coated Roman numerals, indexes and hands for the time functions and blued hands for the chronograph readings, and anthracite with black rhodium coated Roman numerals, indexes and hands enhanced with luminescent material SuperLuminova for better readability at night. The overall layout of the dial is practically identical to the 4810 Chronograph Automatic with the hours and minutes at the centre, a small seconds counter, 30-elapsed minute and 12-elapsed hour counter at 9, 12 and 6 o clock respectively. The day and date displays can be found in apertures at three o’clock.
Beating inside the new Montblanc Star Legacy Chronograph Day&Date 43 mm is an MB25.07 chronograph movement with a power reserve of 48-hours. The watch is water resistant to 50 meters and comes fitted with a brown or grey Sfumato strap.
